How could my labels have come off?

Updated 2 weeks ago

When shipping items through a courier’s network, labels can come off for several reasons. This is why we recommend all customers to ensure that the external labels are very well secured. The handling and transportation processes in courier networks can be quite rigorous, much like the systems used at airports.

Here are the most common causes:

Handling and Conveyor Belts:

Just like airport conveyor belts, items in a courier network are frequently moved and handled. This can result in labels coming off due to friction on the belts or with other items in the network. Conveyor belts and automated sorting systems can catch on labels, tearing or dislodging them.

Poorly attached labels

Poorly attached labels are a common cause of labels coming off during transit. If a label is not securely affixed to the package, it is more susceptible to coming off due to the various stresses it encounters. We do not recommend using normal sellotape for attaching labels as (especially with fabric suitcases) these can easily come off.

Preventive Measures

To minimise the risk of labels coming off, consider the following steps:

•Ensure that labels are affixed to flat, clean surfaces and pressed firmly to ensure good adhesion. You should be using high quality duct tape, masking tape etc.

•Protect labels from environmental factors by covering them with clear tape to shield them from moisture and abrasion.

•Always include the backup label we provide you with that should be inserted inside your item and clearly visible to anyone if the item needs to be opened in case the external labels come off.
